Despite of the pandemic, which is a hard time for everyone, also this year DAMAR Translation Studio managed to organize student internship programme, just like in previous years. This summer some of the internships were offered remotely and some in-house in our office in Sosnowiec, Poland.
Students of linguistics in Poland are often encouraged by their universities to do an internship in a translation agency or a company where communication in foreign languages plays an important role. The number of internship hours ranges usually from 30 to 200, depending on the university.
As part of the internship programme offered by DAMAR Translation Studio, the student has his/her own workstation equipped with the necessary hardware and software. During the internship, the student gets familiarized with our work environment, IT tools used for project management and DTP as well as other important IT tools supporting the translator’s and proofreader’s work. The student can see our work from the backstage. The student observes the work of our project managers, DTP colleagues, translators and proofreaders. They also get a chance to participate in smaller translation projects, read and analyse professional translations including legal, technical and medical, also to become familiar with legal regulations on certified translations and with the international ISO 17100 standard. He/she learns to start to work with tools as SDL Trados Studio or Multiterm including aligment software. The student has a direct contact with the trainees’ supervisor and all other colleagues in our office, which enables fast transfer of knowledge and experience in the field of legal translation, interpretation (including interpretation at court), DTP and project management.
Number of places in our office available for students during winter and summer holidays is limited, so we advise you to apply for the internship in advance. You can write to damar@damar.net.pl
